FAST FACTS
- On July 24, Typhoon Gaemi struck the Philippines, producing heavy rainfall, winds and flooding. Aklan, Albay, Antique, Bataan, Batangas, Capiz, Cavite, Luzon, Oriental Mindoro, Rizal and Zambales were particularly affected.
- 40 fatalities have been reported, hundreds have been injured and 612,000 have been displaced.
- Immediate needs include water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food, shelter and essential household items for affected communities.
OUR FOOTPRINT
- International Medical Corps has been operating in the Philippines since November 2013, and has responded to several natural disasters, including Typhoon Mangkhu and Super Typhoon Rai/Odette.
OUR RESPONSE
- International Medical Corps has provided primary care, nutrition, WASH services and hygiene kits to flood affected people in Rizal. We continue to collaborate with humanitarian partners in affected areas.
