Philippines - Severe weather and floods, update (DSWD DROMIC, PAGASA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 18 February 2025)

  • Heavy rainfall caused by the the Intertropical Convergence Zone and Shear Line has been affecting central and southern Philippines since December causing floods and severe weather-related incidents that have resulted displacements and damage.
  • As of 18 February, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD DROMIC) reports a total of 13,394 displaced people in MIMAROPA, Bicol, Central Visayas, SOCCSKSARGEN regions and Zamboanga Peninsula, approximately 265,500 affected people, and 218 damaged houses in Bicol, Central, Eastern and Western Visayas.
  • On 18-19 February, more rainfall is still forecast over the Philippines, more heavy rainfall is expected over eastern Philippines on 20 February.
