The number of affected and displaced people continues to rise in the southern Philippines due to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds associated to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD DROMIC), as of 28 May, a total of 272,125 people have been affected across six regions: Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Additionally, 12,949 people remain displaced in the regions of Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and BARMM.
Over the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected across parts of the affected areas.
