Philippines: Red Cross acknowledges donations to afflicted families in the Sulu conflict

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) extends gratitude to the donors of relief assistance to the affected families and individuals in the tragic conflict between the warring parties of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in some areas of Sulu, last April.

The PNRC is grateful to the donors for trusting Red Cross to serve as a channel in sending food and non-food item support and assistance to the affected families in the armed conflict. Vice-Governor Mur-Ana Sahidula and Abdusakor Tan of Jolo, Sulu sent an estimated of P67, 500.00 worth of in-kind donations; Mr. Pendaton, Chief Security- Sulu Province, P51, 322.00 estimated cost of in-kind assistance; the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) Davao City, P478, 323.00 estimated worth of goods; Gov. Benjamin Loong of Sulu Province gave 71 cases of Noodles; Act for Peace Programme sent P267, 124.00 estimated worth of in-kind goods; and the World Food Programme donated an estimated amount of P863, 589.00 worth of food assistance.

Further more, the Red Cross hopes that the above donors shall continue their assistance to the organization in aiding the needs of the afflicted humanities.
