l. WEATHER SITUATION

- Typhoon "Kiko" has weakened as it made landfall over Taiwan At 4:00 AM today, the center of Typhoon "Kiko" was located based on satellite and surface data at 390 km North of Basco, Batanes (24.3=B0N, 121.2=B0E) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph moving West Nortwest at 9 kph

- It is expected to be at 515 km North Northwest of Basco, Batanes or 40 km Southeast of Southeastern China by tomorrow morning

- PSWS No. 1 hoisted over Batanes, Northern Cagayan, Apayao and IIocos Norte

- Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) over the Pacific Ocean was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 1,650 km East Northeast of Northern Luzon (22.0=B0N, 140.0=B0E)

- Typhoon "KIKO" will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and bring occasional rains over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas

- Residents in low lying areas and near mountain slopes are advised to take all the necessary precautionary measures against possible flashfloods and landslides

II. EFFECTS

1. Population Affected

- A total of 14,590 families / 73,171 persons were affected in 58 Barangays of 3 Cities and 6 Municipalities in seven (7) provinces of Region ll, III and NCR

- Out of the number affected, 1,085 families / 3,959 persons were evacuated to 9 evacuation centers

- A total of 3,360 families / 18,383 persons were served both outside and inside 9 evacuation centers
