Current Humanitarian Situation
- The national government continue its relief efforts through the NDCC Task Force Humanitarian Assistance to Conflict-Affected Mindanao Provinces (CAMP)
- The NDCC Task Force IDPs in Mindanao team headed by the Chairman DSWD Secretary Esperanza Cabral with OCD Administrator Glenn Rabonza and Staff, Governor Khalid Dimaporo and Congressman Abdullah Dimaporo visited the evacuation centers and bunkhouses in Munai and Lanao del Norte on October 24, 2008
- A special meeting among government cluster leads of RDCCs X, XII and ARMM was held on October 24, 2008 at Pryce Plaza, Carmen Hill, Cagayan de Oro City. It was presided by the OCD Administrator and Executive Officer, NDCC and ASEC Vilma Cabrera of DSWD. One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was the need to strengthen Inter- and Intro-Government Clusters Coordination; profiling of evacuees, and improved data gathering and reporting
- The total cost of assistance extended to the IDPs is Php168.981 Million. Of this amount, Php132.127 Million was provided by the Government while Php36.853 Million was provided by NGOs, INGOs, ICRC and the UN System. Relief assistance provided were in the form of food assistance (rice and food packs); temporary shelter (construction of bunkhouses); health services (consultation and disease surveillance in ECs and provision of medicines); psychosocial services and WASH services (provision of latrines and construction of toilet facilities in evacuation sites. Intensified information, education campaign on proper hygiene; and training of volunteers in providing psychosocial support
