IV. REGIONAL /LOCAL UPDATES/RESPONSE

Status of Retrieval Operations in Itogon, Benguet Landslide in CAR:

There were six (6) dead bodies retrieved on the following dates:

- Jojo Himmayod, 30 yrs. old retrieved on 25 Sept 5:30 PM; Vincent Himmayod 27 yrs. old on 26 Sept.4:30 PM; and Rudy Himmayod 37 yrs. old on 1 Oct at 5:45 AM, both of San Dionisio, Nagtipunan, Quirino

- Juan Himmayod, 36 yrs. old on 1 Oct at 5:45 PM and Marvin Himmayod 28 yrs. old on 2 Oct at 2:45 AM, all of Brgy Asaclat, Nagtipunan, Quirino

- Joel Bulga of Victoria Aglipay, Quirino on 2 Oct at 2:45 AM

There were nine (9) trapped victims rescued:

- Antonio Ngitit Pagulayan, Jose Panio Jr. and Gerry Monyobda on 29 Sept

- Jeyson Himmayod Rubert Buhway and Gerry Ganu on Sept 30

- Gilbert Nattem, Mario Annayasan and Rudy Boling Jr on 1 Oct

The dead victims were already claimed by relatives while the rescued victims were given first aid treatment and brought to Baguio City General Hospital Medical Center (BCGHMC)

Summary of Assistance in the Landslide Operations:

- PHILEX Mines provided Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), gas detection, blasting cord, 25 sets miner lamps and team to cover leaks of the underground twin diversion drainage tunnel to prevent further erosion

- OCD-CAR procured the requirements of Navy SWAG team such as: light sticks, head lamps, fan belt of the air compressor, energy drink and food provision

- PDCC Benguet provided vegetables for affected families, rescuers and miners and additional supply of medicines. Also provided cash assistance and back hoe to undertake the engineering works to divert the river flow at Sitio Luneta

- Benguet Mining Corporation, Philex Mining Corporation, PMA-DRTG and the Association of Private Miners assisted in the conduct of SAR operations

- Itogon Mayor Gudio and MGB convened to finalize identification of areas that will be utilized as relocation sites. The Barangay Captains were tasked to identify at least three (3) areas.

- PNRC Benguet provided 100 pieces food packs, blankets, 100 pieces mats and medicines

- DOH-CAR provided medicines, IV fluids, cadaver bags, masks, family food packs and technical assistance

Status of Roads and Bridges

Region IV-B

- Ipil Bridge (45.72 meters length washed-out/eroded concrete pavement and abutment approach "A" and "B") and Pili Bridge (25 meters length washed-out bridge approach and collapsed abutment "B" with 21 meters tilted, eroded concrete pavement with scoured slope protection) in San Fernando, Romblon - still not passable.
