I. Situation Overview

ALERT LEVEL 4 is still in effect, which means that the 8-km radius Extended Danger Zone (EDZ) over the southeast should remain off-limits. For other areas around the volcano, the presently enforced EDZ is 7-kms from the summit.

A. Status of Evacuation Operations

The total number of evacuees coming from the 22 barangays of Sto. Domingo, Daraga, Camalig, Malilipot and Guinobatan and from the cities of Legaspi, Ligao and Tabaco has decreased from 6,566 families or 30,650 persons to 6,480 families or 30,237 persons. They are temporarily housed in the 22 evacuation centers while some families prefer to stay outside the evacuation centers.

II. Humanitarian Response

A. Cost of Assistance

The amount of assistance from national (DSWD, DOH, BFAR and PNRC), local (LGUs, NGOs and other GOs ) and foreign donation is P30,321,719.34 (cash - P9,961,296.00 and in kind - P20,360,423.34)

B. International Assistance

UNICEF provided basic supplies and latrines to the evacuation centers. Plans to replenish vaccines and syringes for immunization soon.

IOM conducted field assessment and results will be ready by the end of the week

UNRC/UNDP secured US$30,000.00 from the UN Office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) for the provision of tents.

FAO will provide vegetable seeds, planting tools and fertilizers to affected families. Two local specialists/consultants (1 livestock Specialist and 1 Livelihood Specilist/Agronomist) will be deployed on 10 September to assess the scope of damage and details of assistance. Results of assessment will be available during the week of 25 September.

III. Activities Undertaken

Coordinated with PDCC and C/MDCCs re update on number of evacuees and activities undertaken.

Continuous site inspection re status of portalets. Dr. Mendoza, Albay PHO recommended that the 16 portalets pulled out from Camalig be deployed to the different evacuation centers in Legazpi City.

Prepared and submitted summary report on the status of tent distribution as requested by the Japanese Embassy.

Close coordination with PHIVOLCS and other response agencies.
