Armed conflict, clan feuds and generalized violence caused protracted displacements in Central Mindanao from 2012 to 2014. At the end of 2014, more than 77,000 people were still without durable solutions, including 30,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Zamboanga City.

Two months into 2015, almost 70,000 people have been displaced due to a clan feud between families reportedly associated with the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the recent ‘all-out offensive’ of the government armed forces against the BIFF. Local authorities and humanitarian partners report that an estimated 46,400 people are hosted in 45 evacuation centres.
