Attachments

On 6 March, armed conflict between two groups have resulted to the displacement of over 8,600 people (1,738 families) in barangays Sibuto, Dados, Kakar and Ambolodto in Datu Odin Sinsuat town, Maguindanao del Norte. From September 2023 to February 2024, there has been an increasing displacement trend due to armed conflict and weather disturbances in Mindanao. In central Mindanao, the same areas affected by flooding have been affected by conflict. For one year in Bangsamoro region, there had been 34 armed conflict incidents from known armed groups, 34 incidents from armed non state actors and 274 rido cases of which 174 remain unsettled (PRO BAR, 21 February).

Generally, displacement incidents in the Bangsamoro Region are due to longstanding issues on land disputes, often entwined with political rivalry and clan feuds. Military operations against Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs), annual flooding and weather disturbances also trigger cyclical displacements, making displacement situation complex and often protracted.

Based on MSSD BARMM, more than 96,000 reported IDPs due to natural hazards. This figure is for clarification on which location and event that caused the displacements
