On 9 July continuous heavy rainfall brought by the intertropical convergence zone(ITCZ) and the combined effects of TC Carina caused significant flooding and flashfloods in six regions of Mindanao affecting more than 260,000 people in Regions 9, 10,11, 12, CARAGA (NDRRMC Sitrep 11, 23 July). Moreover, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) alone, over 800,000 people or 163,054 families in 475 barangays have been affected by these multiple weather systems, registering 31 casualties, of which 8 people died (Bangsamoro READi Sitrep 23, 22 July).
Generally, displacement incidents in the Bangsamoro Region are due to longstanding issues on land disputes, often entwined with political rivalry and clan feuds. Military operations against Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs), annual flooding and weather disturbances also trigger cyclical displacements, making displacement situation complex and often protracted.
