Philippines: Mindanao Displacement Snapshot as of 22 April 2024

Attachments

On 03 April, armed conflict between Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Barangay Pimbalkan and Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur resulted to the displacement of over 7,800 people.

Generally, displacement incidents in the Bangsamoro Region are due to longstanding issues on land disputes, often entwined with political rivalry and clan feuds. Military operations against Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs), annual flooding and weather disturbances also trigger cyclical displacements, making displacement situation complex and often protracted.
