From January to June this year, a total of 16,700 families or 83,640 people have been displaced in Maguindanao and Special Geographic Areas (SGA) due to clan feuds and armed conflict, over 81% of these displaced have returned to their places of origin (Bangsamoro IDP Protection Coordination Platform, 13 June).

Generally, displacement incidents in the Bangsamoro Region are due to longstanding issues on land disputes, often entwined with political rivalry and clan feuds. Military operations against Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs), annual flooding and weather disturbances also trigger cyclical displacements, making displacement situation complex and often protracted.
