On 24 June 2023, an armed encounter occured in Maimbung, Sulu between government troops and members of a private armed group. More than 6,900 people were displaced during the conflict. According to latest report of DSWD, all displaced people have returned home. Displacements in Maguindanao in March and April 2023 due to several armed conflicts have returned home according to latest government reports. In July, flooding in Bangsamoro Region due to ITCZ caused displacements in Datu Montawal and Pagalungan. There is an ongoing validation of remaining IDPs by government authorities.
DISPLACEMENT IN BUKIDNON
On 10 April, a political boundary conflict occured in two barangays in Kadilingan, Bukidnon. More than 1,900 people (486 families) were displaced of which 817 people (193 families) are staying in evacuation centers. No update on return.
MARAWI CONFLICT
As of December 2022, approximately 80,300 people (16,070 families) remain displaced since May 2017. Around 70% of the internally displaced population are in home-based setting while the rest are in transitory sites.
DISPLACEMENT IN MAGUINDANAO
On 25 June, an armed encounter between groups with long standing dispute in Rajah Buayan displaced more than 900 people. Military troops were deployed in the area to reduce the escalation of the conflict.
ZAMBOANGA SIEGE
Nine years on, about 3,600 people (720 families) remain displaced in Zamboanga City waiting for the completion of the permanent housing units under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Rehabilitation (Z3R) program. 290 people (58 families) are still living in Mampang and Buggoc transitory sites, while more than 3,300 people are home-based.
DAVAO DE ORO EARTHQUAKE
On 07 March 2023, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted the Municipali-ty of New Bataan in Davao De Oro. More than 4,800 people are still currently displaced in 14 evacuation centres.
LPA/SHEAR LINE DISPLACEMENT
Around 420 people are still displaced mostly in Misamis Occidental in Region 10 due to flooding brought by continous rains because of the Shearline, Low Pressure Area and Northeast Monsoon in December 2020 to January 2023.
COTABATO AND DAVAO DEL SUR EARTHQUAKES
More than 9,900 people (2,355 families) are still living in makeshift dwellings since October 2019 while awaiting their transfer to permanent shelters. IDPs top concerns are the source of income to support the family, e.g., food, and dilapidated tents and transitory shelters that needed replacement.
DISPLACEMENT IN SULU
Approximately 2,110 people (422 families) have been protractedly displaced in Patikul town since 2017 due to series of military operations against Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs). Assessment of housing project site in Barangay Maligay for the IDPs and prepara-tion of road network was conducted by the authorities.
DISPLACEMENT IN BASILAN
Unresolved clan feuds and armed conflict causes the prolonged displacement of 1,200 people (242 families) since 2019 and 2021.
