On 11 May, the tailings storage facility of a mining company exploded that resulted to a landslide affecting two municiplaities and displacing about 1,065 people ( 319 families) from Mainit and Tubod. The incident have totally damaged 226 houses. Generally, displacement incidents in the Bangsamoro Region are due to longstanding issues on land disputes, often entwined with political rivalry and clan feuds. Military operations against Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs), annual flooding and weather disturbances also trigger cyclical displacements, making displacement situation complex and often protracted.
