This snapshot is a monthly compilation of current displacement in Mindanao due to past and ongoing natural hazards and conflict. Based on latest available information, more than 145,300 are currently displaced of which almost 37,000 were displaced in the last six months while the rest were displaced for more than 6 months.
On 11 January, A re-emergence of previous conflict between MILF groups affected more than 5,800 people in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao Del Sur. Similarly, on 08 January 2024, armed conflict between alleged members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) erupted that caused the displacement of more than 2,800 people in the municipality of Sultan Sa Barongis in Maguindanao del Sur.
In 17 December 2023, Tropical Storm Jelawat/Kabayan made landfall in Davao Oriental which brought rains to areas impacted by the two strong offshore earthquakes in 02 December and 17 November in Surigao del Sur and Davao Occidental respectively. The rains and floods exacerbated of affected people are still recovering from the earthquakes.
