On 03 August 2024, 6:22 AM, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred in Lingig, Surigao del Sur, located at 08.12°N, 126.84°E - 048 km N 79° E of Lingig, Surigao del Sur with depth of focus of 011 kilometers, and tectonic in origin. No damage to infrastructure and casualties were reported by the affected LGUs. Further inspections are ongoing while the initial impact appears minimal, continued vigilance is recommended due to the possibility of aftershocks.

OCD-RDRRM Operations Center continues to monitor and coordinate with all concerned to assess the situation and provide situational updates as needed.

AFFECTED POPULATION:
- A total of 9,341 families / 29,440 persons were affected in 13 barangays, of which 14 families / 56 persons are served outside ECs.

DAMAGED HOUSES:
- A total of 193 (2 totally, 191 partially) damaged houses were reported.
