Philippines - Floods and landslides (ADINet, PAGASA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 02 December 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting north-western Mindano island, southern Philippines and western Visayas, central Philippines since the morning (UTC) of 29 November, causing floods and triggering landslides that have resulted in population evacuation and damage.
  • The ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet) reports, as of 2 December, more than 2,500 evacuated people in 14 evacuation centres across the Northern Mindano region. In addition, the same source reports over 240 evacuated people in six evacuation centres, and a total of 4,260 affected people in the Western Visayas region.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of the country.
