Philippines - Flooding in Mindanao (DG ECHO, DG ECHO Partners, NDRRMC, BARMM, UN OCHA) (ECHO Daily Flash of 21 May 2025)

  • Several areas of the Philippines, especially in Mindanao, have been affected by flooding and landslides due to rains brought by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). On 20 May 2025, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported 38,689 families (192,005 persons) affected.
  • The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) reported 1,315 families displaced from the municipalities of Datu Piang, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Datu Paglas, and Ampatuan in the province of Maguidanao Del Sur. Some Local Government Units have provided initial food relief and DG ECHO partners are carrying out rapid needs assessment.
