After the 6.8 M earthquake in Davao del Sur Province (Davao Region, Mindanao Island) on 15 December, the number of casualties and damage has risen, as aftershocks continue to affect the area.
According to the National Disaster Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 9 people are dead, one person is missing and 111 people are injured. 32,000 people are displaced (14,073 in 24 evacuation centres) and 108,471 affected. 14,000 houses, 128 schools and 14 bridges are damaged.
According to initial field assessments by DG ECHO partners, some of the evacuation centres and displacement sites in Kiblawan, Hagonoy, and Padada are in need of emergency shelter (plastic sheets), drinking water supply and sanitation facilities.
A severe flood advisory is still in effect for south-east Mindanao.
