On 30 September 2025, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Cebu Province, central Philippines, at 21:59 local time, with its epicenter 17–21 km northeast of Bogo City at a depth of 5–10 km. A magnitude 5.2 aftershock followed 13 minutes later, triggering 379 recorded aftershocks by 01 October. The earthquake severely affected northern Cebu, with six municipalities experiencing Intensity VII (Destructive) shaking and disruptions extending to Leyte, Biliran, and parts of Bohol. PHIVOLCS confirmed this quake was the strongest ever recorded in Cebu to date.
