Philippines: Earthquake in Bohol province Situation Report No. 1 (as of 15 October 2013)



  • A 7.2 magnitude earthquake in central Philippines killed at least 28 people, injured 159, displaced 40,000 families and affected more than 100,000 people

  • Government Quick Response Teams have been deployed to the affected areas

  • Many parts of Cebu and Bohol provinces are without power and water supply

  • 180 aftershocks have been recorded

  • The President of the Philippines Benigno Aquino III will visit Cebu and Bohol on 16 October

  • The United Nations and its partners will support the Government to assess the needs of the affected people
