Of this amount, Php36.24 million or 68% have been provided by the national government agencies, Php11.78 million or 22% by the UN system and private sector and Php5.28 million or 10% by the local government units (LGU).
Regional Director Carmelito A. Lupo of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), region 10, said the national government agencies and their cumulative amount of assistance extended to the IDP's of LDN are as follows:
Dept. of National Defense (DND) thru the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), Php2.16 million for 1,900 sacks of rice and financial assistance to the dead and injured victims of the lawless MILF group (LMG).
Dept. of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Php8.08 million for assorted family food packs and non-food items and Dept. of Health (DOH), Php2.0 million for additional medicines and medical supplies.
Dept. of Education (DepEd), Php9.7 million for the reconstruction of the Kolambugan Central School classrooms burned by the LMG and Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Php4.65 million for fund assistance to victims of the LMG.
Dept. of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Php9.13 million for the construction of typical evacuation bunkhouses in Tangkal, Munai, Poona Piagapo, Kauswagan and Kolambugan, LDN.
Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), Php520,000 for skills training in small engines, hairdressing and massage therapy of the IDP's.
Meanwhile, Lupo said the UN system/non-governmental organization/private individuals and companies extended a cumulative total of Php11.38 million for food and non-food items (NFI).
On the other hand, the LGU's thru their respective DCC's extended the following amount of assistance: Provincial DCC of Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon and Misamis Occidental, as well, as the Municipal DCC of Munai, Php5.28 million also for food and NFI, he added. (RCA/PIA 10)
