In an initial report compiled by the Cash Working Group covering the period 2017 to 2018, 11 humanitarian organizations in partnership with 26 local and international organizations have implemented more than PHP 622 million (US$11 million) worth of cash-based interventions for more than 53,000 beneficiaries affected by eight different emergencies in the country.
Of the 496 cash-based intervention activities, 476 are reported to be completed, while 20 are still ongoing. The province of Lanao del Sur is the recipient of 145 cash-based interventions due to the Marawi conflict, while Camarines Sur had the least number of interventions related to the Mayon volcano preemptive evacuation response in 2017. Most of the interventions were conditional with multi-purpose cash transfers being the most popular usage. The most preferred delivery mechanism was through electronic payment of mobile money transfer.
