CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, December 28 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Pampanga donated P2 million to the calamity-stricken cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan in Northern Mindanao.
Governor Lilia Pineda said the latest donation came from contributions of the department heads and employees of the capitol.
Earlier, the provincial government and Pampanga Mayors’ League donated 500 pieces of coffins to the said cities which were used for the decent burial of the “Sendong" casualties.
The coffins came from Santo Tomas town which is noted for such industry.
Meanwhile, Regional Development Council 3 (RDC 3) chair Oscar Rodriguez continues to appeal to national government agencies and local government units in Central Luzon to provide aid to the victims of “Sendong.”
Rodriguez said “Central Luzon lived through a similar calamity barely two months ago and the people of Cagayan De Oro and Iligan generously donated food and clothing. Now it is time for us to reciprocate their good deeds.”
Rodriguez instructed the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office, which serves as the RDC 3 secretariat, to gather and take account of all donations.
The donations will be sent in the name of the people of Central Luzon.
