NDRRMC Update: Situational Report No. 03 regarding Magnitude 6.6. Earthquake in Tulunan, North Cotabato, 30 October 2019, 6:00 PM

I. Situation Overview

On 29 October 2019, 9:04 AM, an earthquake occurred in Tulunan (Cotabato) with the following details:

  • As of 12:00 PM, a total of 344 aftershocks were recorded. Of which, 223 were plotted and 70 were felt, ranging from magnitude 1.5 to 6.1 and Intensity I to VII.

II. Effects

A.Incidents Monitored

29 October 2019

  • A fire broke-out at G Skin and Domantay Jamora Dental Clinic in General Santos City, South Cotabato. It was declared fire out on the same day (Region XIl).

  • The dike near Buluan-Paglat river was damaged that resulted in the continuous flow of water towards Barangays Tual, Damakling, and Poblacion causing flood (BARMM).

  • Landslide incident was reported at Sitio Saulbulawan, Barangay Bituan which totally blocked the road going to Barangay Bacong, Tulunan, Cotabato.

  • Landslide incident was reported in Barangay Upper Bala, Magsaysay, Davao del Sur wherein two (2) missing persons were recorded.

B. Affected Population

  • A total of 3,273 families / 16,365 persons (previous report: 1,681 families / 8,405 persons) were affected in 42 barangays (previous report: 3 barangays) in Regions XI and XIl.

  • Of which, a total of 874 families / 4,370 persons (previous report: 701 families / 3,505 persons) are taking temporary shelter in 2 evacuation centers, while 980 families / 4,900 persons are served outside ECs.
