I. SITUATION OVERVIEW:

A. Severe Weather Bulletin No. 13 re Typhoon “CHEDENG” (SONGDA) · Typhoon “Chedeng” has accelerated and gained more strength as it approaches the eastern seaboard of Northern Luzon · At 10:00 AM today, Typhoon (TY) “CHEDENG” was located at 230 km Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or at 400 km Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (14.9°N,126.2°E) with a maximum sustained winds of 170 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 205 kph and is forecast to move northwest at 19 kph. · Signal No 2 is raised over Catanduanes and Camrines Sur and No 1 over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon including Polilio Islands, Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Marinduque, Burias and Ticao Island and Masbate · TY “Chedeng” is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao
