I. SITUATION OVERVIEW:

A. Severe Weather Bulletin No. 12 re Typhoon “CHEDENG” (SONGDA)

• At 4:00 AM today, Typhoon (TY) “CHEDENG” has gained more strength as it moves northwestward. It was located based on radar, satellite and surface data at 270 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0°N, 127.0°E) with a maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph and is forecast to move northwest at 15 kph.

TY “Chedeng” is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao
