NDRRMC Update Sitrep No. 01 re Preparedness Measures and Effects of Tropical Depression "Urduja" as of 8:00 AM, 14 December 2017

12 December 2017

At 5:00 PM, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility) developed into a tropical depression and was named "URDUJA". It has a maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph as it moves in a north northwest direction at 6 kph.

At 10:00 PM, the center of Tropical Depression (TD) "URDUJA" was estimated as 415 km East Northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

13 December 2017

At 11:00 AM, TD "URDUJA" maintained its strength as it continued to move in a north northwest direction.

"URDUJA" slightly changed its course as it continues to move close to Sorsogon-Northern Samar area around 5:00 PM. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 was raised over the Province of Eastern Samar.

At 11:00 PM, TCWS No. 1 was also issued in the Provinces of Northern Samar and Samar.

At 4:00 AM, the center of ID "URDUJA" was estimated at 175 km East of Guivan, Eastern Samar. It has a maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph as it moves in a westward at 8 kph.

Expected to make landfall over Eastern Samar this evening or tomorrow morning. Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 400 km diameter of the TD "URDUJA". Scattered to widespread rains is expected over Visayas and the regions of Bicol, CARAGA and Northern Mindanao within 24 hours.

At 8:00 AM, TCWS No. 1 is issued over the Provinces of Catanduanes, Camarines Sur,Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Northern Cebu, Capiz, Aklan, and Northern Iloilo.
