OVERVIEW

PAGASA’s weather forecast for 12 July 2024, 11:00 AM, the Southwest Monsoon will bring heavy to intense rains (100-200mm) over Zamboanga Peninsula.

On 12 July 2024, at around 01:25 PM, nine (9) flooding and three (3) landslide incidents in different provinces and municipalities in Region IX. Zamboanga City recorded 490 affected families with 1,228 individuals. Pre-emptive evacuations were conducted in Sibuco and Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte with a total of 17 families with 89 individuals and 4 families with 13 individuals. in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, M/V Grace Joie, a passenger ship owned by Aleson Shipping Lines, was anchored in the west coast of Zamboanga City when big waves battered the ship causing it to capsize. 21 crew members were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard. There were also delayed flights experienced in Zamboanga International Airport.

As of reporting time, the diversionary weir in Pasonanca, Zamboanga City is closely monitored by the Zamboanga City Water District (ZCWD) as it reached a high critical level due to continuous rains.
