Islamic Relief responds to Tropical Depression Kristine; reaches over 7,000 individuals in Bicol Region

Camarines Sur, Philippines – When Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on 21 October 2024, it brought widespread devastation across several regions and devastation and affecting over 2.4 million people. The hardest-hit area was Bicol Region, where nearly 380,000 individuals were displaced and forced into evacuation centers. In response to the devastation, Islamic Relief, supported by Islamic Relief UK, USA, and Australia, provided assistance to the hardest-hit communities, focusing on the Municipalities of Canaman, Camaligan, and Milaor in Camarines Sur, where families received food packs, hygiene kits, and safe drinking water in jerry cans.

Recognizing the need for longer-term support, Islamic Relief continued its intervention through the Swedish International Development Agency - Rapid Response Mechanism (SIDA-RRM Project), with support from IR Sweden and in partnership with the Socio Pastoral Action Center Foundation of Daet Inc. (SPACFI). Islamic Relief rolled out extended interventions to address both immediate and long-term needs.
