Massive destruction in the north of the Philippines expected – Humedica organises first relief goods distributions

When the typhoon “Haima” hit the Philippines, it moved at speeds of up to 315 kilometres an hour causing massive destruction in the North of the country. humedica reacted immediately and organised already the distribution of food packages for 1.000 affected families.
Again the inhabitants of the Philippines, which are prone to natural catastrophes, suffer from the impact of a severe storm. Initial reports show that the typhoon „Haima“ has raged especially hard in the province Cagayan, where it has lifted off roofs, flattened trees and destroyed the power supply. According to the Disaster Management Authority about 10.000 of people have fled their homes and taken shelter in emergency accommodations.
Together with the local partner organisation PHILRADS the humedica intervention team organised the emergency supply for 1.000 families, who were struck particularly bad in the North of the country. "We monitored the typhoon since its beginning, so we already knew that we had to reckon with a high degree of destruction“, explains humedica general manager Wolfgang Groß. "Thanks to our local humedica employees we are now able to react fast and to assist the victims of the typhoon effectively and needs-based.“
Since typhoon „Haiyan“ struck the Philippines in November 2013 and caused the death of more than 6.000 people, humedica operates on a permanent basis in the Philippines. The present typhoon „Haima“ is the strongest storm since „Haiyan“.
humedica asks the people in Germany for dedicated donations to assist the present emergency aid operations in the Philippines.
