DTM Philippines — Bogo, Cebu Earthquake Displacement Report (16 October 2025)

Attachments

On 30 September 2025, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake occurred with its epicenter in Bogo City, Cebu in the Philippines. The tremor was widely felt across surrounding municipalities, resulting in the displacement of thousands of families. The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) exercise was jointly conducted with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) from 7-8 October 2025, to identify displacement sites and assess the situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in four of the hardest-hit cities and municipalities following the 6.9 magnitude earthquake on September 30. Respondents were selected based on their availability during the two-day deployment, using convenience sampling. During field visits, IOM geotagged displacement sites, which were generally categorized as self-settled camps (sites established spontaneously by affected families, often without formal management or support) and supervised displacement sites (sites organized or managed by the government or humanitarian actors).
