DSWD DROMIC Terminal Report on the Effects of Northeast Monsoon in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), 26 November 2024, 6PM

I. Situation Overview

Issued on 22 December 2023 at 4:00 PM, cloudy skies with rains caused by the Northeast Monsoon may have brought possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. On the same day, several municipalities in the province of Apayao, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) experienced flooding and soil erosion due to heavy rainfall caused by the Northeast Monsoon.

II. Status of Affected Areas and Population

A total of 979 families or 3,486 persons were affected in 25 barangays in CAR (see Annex A).

III. Status of Displaced Population

a. Inside Evacuation Center

A total of 122 families or 315 persons sought temporary shelter in 11 evacuation centers in CAR (see Annex C).

b. Outside Evacuation Center

One (1) family or three (3) persons temporarily staying with their built makeshift house (see Annex D).

c. Total Displaced Population

One (1) family or three (3) persons are still displaced in the province of Apayao in CAR (see Annex E).

IV. Damaged Houses

A total of two (2) houses were damaged; of which, one (1) is totally damaged and one (1) is partially damaged in the province of Apayao (see Annex F).

V. Cost of Humanitarian Assistance Provided

A total of ₱524,504.25 worth of assistance was provided to the affected families; of which, ₱405,806.25 from DSWD and ₱118,698.00 from the Local Government Units (LGUs) (see Annex G).
