I. Situation Overview
On 09 August 2023, reports from the 79th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army indicated that two unarmed civilians were killed by members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) at around 5:00 AM. This particular incident led to a combined government force to serve warrants of arrest to the said members of the CPP-NPA but they were ambushed while on their way.
On the same day at around 9:00 AM, the armed conflict transpired in Brgy. Minapasuk, Calatrava, Negros Occidental between a combined force of the Peace and Order Committee of Brgy, Minapasuk, the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and the Calatrava Philippine National Police (PNP) against the said members of CPP-NPA. The armed encounter resulted in the displacement of families and persons residing near the affected areas.

II. Status of Affected Areas and Population
A total of 28 families or 73 persons were affected in Brgy. Minapasuk, Calatrava, Negros Occidental City (see Table 1).
