I. Situation Overview

On 29 January 2024, the Municipalities of Compostela, Monkayo, and New Bataan in Davao de Oro along with the Municipalities of Bunawan and Rosario in Agusan del Sur reported initial effects of the trough of a Low-Pressure Area (LPA).

On 01 February 2024, incidents of flooding caused by sustained heavy rains from the trough of the LPA were reported in the Province of North Cotabato in Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN) and in the Province of Maguindanao del Sur in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The trough of LPA continued to bring light to heavy rains until 02 February 2024 that resulted in further flooding and landslide incidents in Mindanao. On 03 February 2024 at 11 AM, the LPA dissipated.

II. Status of Affected Areas and Population

A total of 736,915 families or 2,856,763 persons are affected in 992 barangays in Regions XI, XII, Caraga, and BARMM (see Annex A).
