I. Situation Overview

Issued on 12 July 2024 at 4:00 AM, the Southwest Monsoon affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao may have brought possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon.

On the same day, heavy rainfall in Datu Montawal (Papagawan), Maguindanao del Sur caused the Pulangi / Rio Grande de Mindanao River to rise and consequently, resulted to flooding in some low-lying barangays. Sustained heavy rains also caused the Tual, Nalus, and Pangi Rivers to overflow and subsequently submerge several houses in Kiamba, Sarangani.

On 12 July 2024, several areas in Zamboanga Peninsula including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte, experienced flooding due to continuous rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon.
