I. Situation Overview
On 04 June 2024, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that El Niño in the tropical Pacific Ocean has ended, as both oceanic and atmospheric indicators have returned to El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-neutral levels. Moreover, a transition from ENSO-neutral to La Niña conditions remain likely (about 69% chance) by the July-August-September 2024 season.
From July 2023 to May 2024, El Niño conditions were observed in the tropical Pacific
Ocean. The effects of El Niño were felt in the Philippines that lead to agricultural damages and water shortages reported in various Regions.

II. Status of Affected Areas and Population
A total of 1,867,913 families or 7,236,669 persons are affected in 9,101 barangays in Regions I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, Caraga, CAR, and BARMM (see Annex A).
