DSWD DROMIC Report #1 on the Effects of Intertropical Convergence Zone in Pototan, Iloilo as of 12 July 2024, 6AM

I. Situation Overview

An Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) has been reported as affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, with Western Visayas and Palawan in particular being forecasted to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ. The rest of Visayas will meanwhile have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to ITCZ.

On 09 July 2024 at around 11:00 PM heavy rains in Pototan, Iloilo caused flooding in low-lying areas, reaching households and not yet subsiding as of reporting time.

II. Status of Affected Areas and Population

A total of 83 families or 369 persons are affected in two (2) barangays in Pototan,
Iloilo (see Annex A).

III. Status of Displaced Population

a. Inside Evacuation Center

There are seven (7) families or 24 persons currently taking temporary shelter in two (2) evacuation centers (ECs) in Pototan, Iloilo (see Annex B).

b. Outside Evacuation Center

There are 76 families or 345 persons temporarily staying with their relatives or friends (see Annex D).

c. Total Displaced Population

There are 83 families or 369 persons displaced in Pototan, Iloilo (see Annex E).

IV. Cost of Humanitarian Assistance Provided

A total of ₱115,649.52 worth of assistance from DSWD was provided to the affected families (see Annex F).
