COTABATO CITY, Feb. 10 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Autonomous Region in Mindanao (DSWD-ARMM) has assured that it is fast tracking the construction of core shelters funded under President Benigno S Aquino III’s stimulus fund.
According to DSWD-ARMM assistant regional secretary Pombaen Kader, P1.9 billion in stimulus fund has been released to the autonomous region for various programs and projects that include core shelters, day care centers, supplemental feeding, cash for work, and livelihood assistance.
Under the core shelter program, Kader said, is the construction of 100 houses for victims of flashfloods in June last year in the town of Mother Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.
Kader said, member-beneficiaries of the neighborhood association in the said area are undertaking the construction of houses as part of the campaign advocating unity, sense of responsibility, and belongingness.
“Ang mga beneficiaries na miyembro ng neighborhood association ang nagtatrabaho sa konstruksiyon sa ilalim ng food-for-work program ng DSWD and we are inculcating in them iyung value ng sense of responsibility and belongingness para pangalagaan ang pabahay at iba pang tulong ng pamahalaan,” Kader said.
Completion of the construction of the 100 core shelters in Mother Kabuntalan is expected within three to four months. He also assured transparency in the implementation of target programs and projects with the involvement and support of civil society organizations (CSO) in monitoring and evaluation process, Kader added.
