TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, February 10 (PIA) - - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) based in the province will implement around PhP135-million worth of flood control projects in Kapalong town.
Guesting in the Kapihan sa Kapitolyo, DPWH OIC District Engineer, Engr Noel Basañes disclosed that as of February, only the Libuganon River in Kapalong were funded for this year with flood control projects.
According to the data from the DPWH, the identified projects were Tagum Libuganon Dike including its downstream worth a total of PhP 84.325-million and a revetment along Libuganon River Downstream costing PhP 50-million.
Engr. Basañes said that the flood control projects will mitigate the effects of flooding in Kapalong.
“It will not really stop the flood from coming, but it will just lessen the effects of the flooding,” he said.
As to other areas in the province like in Saug river in Asuncion and Tuganay River in Carmen, their office is now preparing a proposal worth PhP 3.6-billion. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
