CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Oct. 8 (PIA) -- A total of 17 displaced workers of the collapsed Chuzon Supermarket in Porac town benefitted from the livelihood aid of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Each beneficiary was given PhP20,000 aid in the form of a sari-sari store livelihood package.

DOLE Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita said the aid is the government’s way to assist the displaced workers as they recover from the loss of their jobs and family members.

“We hope that you cherish the assistance you receive and that you will be able to grow and sustain this livelihood,” Angara-Campita told the beneficiaries.

Through the help of the municipal government of Porac, DOLE will monitor the status of these sari-sari stores.

For her part, Public Employment Service Office Manager Sheryl Bulanadi said they are in full support of the beneficiaries knowing that the unprecedented closure of Chuzon has affected their community.

It can be recalled that the Chuzon Supermarket in Porac collapsed as result of the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit parts of Luzon on April 22, 2019. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
