Nutrition Stakeholders and Action Mapping at “Sustainable Peru” Event

Tania Goossens, Country Director in Peru, participated in the “Sustainable Peru” event organized by Peru 2021. Peru 2021 works on a Sustainable Development (S.D.) model which incorporates the SDGs. WFP is involved in the Zero Hunger Table (SDG2).

During the event, WFP Peru presented the Nutrition Stakeholder and Action Mapping as a multi-actor and multisectoral effort needed to establish a national alliance against hunger and malnutrition. WFP is currently coordinating with the U.N. Network for SUN Secretariat the planning and development of the Mapping in Peru.

Rice Fortification

To strengthen the surveillance of rice fortification, an expert from INCAP (Nutrition Institute of Central America and Panama) visited Lima with the support of WFP to provide technical assistance to CENAN (National Center of Nutrition). As a result, CENAN drafted a technical document on monitoring and surveillance of rice fortification, which includes the roles of all institutions involved in the process.

School Feeding

The Minister of Development and Social Inclusion visited the Home-Grown School Feeding programme jointly developed by WFP with the national school feeding programme Qali Warma and the project Haku Wiñay from FONCODES, to work on the inclusion of fresh vegetables in the food basket.

Information Tool

AgroChatea is the new free-of-charge application developed in the framework of a joint project between the Ministry of Agriculture and WFP. It allows anyone to inquire about the prices of agricultural products in the wholesale markets of Metropolitan Lima.
