Peru – Severe Weather (SENAMHI, Media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 28 February 2019)

Heavy rainfall and strong winds have been affecting several regions of Peru over the past few days, triggering flash floods and mudslides which have resulted in casualties and damage. As of 28 February, media reported 51 deaths and 79 injured people. Furthermore, 228 houses have been destroyed, 26 bridges have been demolished and several roads have been blocked by torrential rain and landslides. According to the National Weather Service (SENAMHI), heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds will continue to occur across most of the country over the next 72 hours.
