Peru – Rains and Landslides (DG ECHO, INDECI) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 February 2017)

  • The National Civil Defence Institute (INDECI) of Peru reports that damage caused by rains has affected 302 630 people. 33 192 people have lost their homes, roads and bridges have also been destroyed or damaged.
  • The most affected departments are Lambayeque, Piura, Ica, Huancavelica, Arequipa, and Loreto (all in a state of emergency). Lambayeque is the worst stricken, with 79 648 persons affected, of which 23 482 have lost their homes; 27 schools have been damaged.
  • The Ministry of Health has declared sanitary emergency in the northern departments of Tumbes, Piura, and Lambayeque
