Peru - Landslide (SENHAMI, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 25 March 2026)

  • A huge landslide, triggered by very heavy rainfall during the previous days, occurred in the Urubamba province (southern Peru) on 22 March, causing casualties and damage.
  • Media report, as of 25 March, two fatalities, an uncertain number of affected people, a number of damaged houses, some blocked roads and one damaged bridge across the Machu Picchu district (Urubamba province, Cusco region) due to a landslide that occurred in the night of 22 March.
  • Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall, with locally very heavy rainfall, is still forecast over southern Peru.
