A huge landslide, triggered by very heavy rainfall during the previous days, occurred in the Urubamba province (southern Peru) on 22 March, causing casualties and damage.
Media report, as of 25 March, two fatalities, an uncertain number of affected people, a number of damaged houses, some blocked roads and one damaged bridge across the Machu Picchu district (Urubamba province, Cusco region) due to a landslide that occurred in the night of 22 March.
Over the next 96 hours, more heavy rainfall, with locally very heavy rainfall, is still forecast over southern Peru.
