On 29 March, heavy rain triggered flash floods and mudslides (huaicos) that have resulted in widespread damage in Huanuco Department (central Peru).

According to national authorities, in Maranon Province (central Huanuco) 550 people have been affected, damage was reported to more than 120 buildings and 2 bridges. Drinking water and power supply have been interrupted.

Moderate rain is forecast over most of Huanuco on 1-2 April.
