On 30 January 2025, the Peru National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI per its acronym in Spanish) has updated information regarding the impact of heavy rains in the departments of Madre de Dios and Junín. These rains have resulted in flooding and landslides. In the district of Tambopata, Madre de Dios, a shelter has been established to assist families affected by a landslide, which impacted a total of 10 homes and caused damage to electricity and communication infrastructure. In Junín, incidents related to the heavy rains have been reported in the district of Vizcatán and the cities of José Olaya, Boca Mantaro, Paquichari, and Tutumbaro.
