Severe Weather
On 13 May 2019, the Peru National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), reported constant heavy rain and floods in San Juan de Cacazú and Chatarra, Villa Rica District, Oxapampa Province, Pasco Department, where 104 people and 40 homes were affected as well 63 people were injured. In Villa Rica District, several communities did not have access to potable water. In addition, transportation networks in San Juan de Cacazú and Chatarra sector is temporally closed. On 13 May 2019, the Guatemala National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) reported that El Fuego Volcano generated 13 to 22 moderate explosions, with ash columns of 4,800 meters above sea level dispersing towards the south and southwest. Ash falls were reported in the Seca cliffside and in the communities of Panimaché I and II, Morelia, Santa Sofía, and El Porvenir. The report is available in Spanish at: CONRED. On 13 May 2019, media reported heavy rain and an overflow of rivers in the municipalities of Los Juries and El Cuadrado in Santiago del Estero Province, Argentina, where more than 700 people were evacuated and 600,000 hectares of agriculture products were affected due to floods.
