Paraguay - Flood (UNICEF, PAHO-WHO, DMH, NOAA, Reliefweb, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 16 May 2019)
Heavy rainfall has been affecting northern, central-eastern and south-eastern Paraguay since the beginning of April, triggering floods. The most affected are Ñeembucú, Presidente Hayes, Alto Paraguay, Concepción, Capital, Misiones, San Pedro and Central Departments. According to UNICEF, as of 13 May, 16 people have died as a result (six in Presidente Hayes, five in Asunción, three in Ñeembucú, one in Concepción and one in Alto Paraguay). More than 19,500 families have been evacuated throughout Presidente Hayes, Concepción, Central, Misiones, San Pedro and Ñeembucú Departments and at least 42,100 families are affected and in need of assistance. Over the next 24 hours, the weather will improve across the country.
